Chicken with Black sesame, a simple dish with just the basic ingredients, but the yumminess and flavour is all in the addition of just a tablespoon full of black sesame paste!
Ingredients :
- Chicken 500 grams
- Onion, 1 large chopped
- Garlic, 7-8 large pods roughly minced
- Ginger, 1 inch piece, roughly minced
- Green chillies, chopped (as per heat preference!)
- Lakadong turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon (buy here)
- Black sesame seeds paste, 1 tablespoon (buy here)
- Mustard oil 3-4 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- In a kadai (Wok), heat the oil and saute the onion, ginger, garlic, chillies
- Add the Lakadong turmeric and stir fry till onions are cooked
- Add the chicken pieces and cook for 10 mins on high heat, to remove moisture and for chicken pieces to brown on the outside
- Reduce flame and add salt, stir occasionally till chicken is cooked.
- Add the black sesame seeds paste and stir well till all chicken pieces are coated in it
- Cook for another 5 minutes (add a couple of spoons of water, if the sesame paste is sticking to the bottom) And done!
Note: For the best black sesame paste, dry roast the black sesame seeds in a pan first, let it cool and then grind in a mixer -the natural oils will help form a thick, rich paste.
