Jadoh is a rice-based Khasi delicacy from Meghalaya which literally translated to "rice meat", where meat, usually pork, is added to rice and cooked into a savoury dish.
Ingredients:
- Rice about 250 grams (should serve 4-5 people)
- Pork, about 100 grams, mostly fat if possible, cut into small pieces
- Oil, 2 tablespoons
- Ginger paste 2 table spoons
- Onion, one large, thinly slice
- Lakadong Turmeric ( buy here )
- Bay leaf ( buy here )
- Black pepper and salt to taste
How to cook:
- Heat oil in a large vessel.
- Add the onions, ginger paste, turmeric, and black pepper and fry till the mixture browns.
- Add bay leaves
- Add the pork pieces and fry until they turn light brown and the fat oozes
- Add the washed rice and fry for 2-3 minutes. Add salt.
- Add enough water to cook the rice and let it simmer till it gets cooked.
- Keep stirring occasionally.
-
Garnish it with coriander and serve.
