Jadoh is a rice-based Khasi delicacy from Meghalaya which literally translated to "rice meat", where meat, usually pork, is added to rice and cooked into a savoury dish.

Ingredients:

  • Rice about 250 grams (should serve 4-5 people)
  • Pork, about 100 grams, mostly fat if possible, cut into small pieces
  • Oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Ginger paste 2 table spoons
  • Onion, one large, thinly slice
  • Lakadong Turmeric ( buy here )
  • Bay leaf ( buy here )
  • Black pepper and salt to taste


How to cook:

  • Heat oil in a large vessel.
  • Add the onions, ginger paste, turmeric, and black pepper and fry till the mixture browns.
  • Add bay leaves
  • Add the pork pieces and fry until they turn light brown and the fat oozes
  • Add the washed rice and fry for 2-3 minutes. Add salt.
  • Add enough water to cook the rice and let it simmer till it gets cooked.
  • Keep stirring occasionally.
  • Garnish it with coriander and serve.
